December 2009 (Kislev 5770): Bulk sampling program

In light of the mineral chemistry results from the Rakefet Magmatic Complex and the recovery of a micro-diamond, further evaluation of the magmatic bodies and its associated drainage network has commenced. This will include bulk sampling to test a range of sedimentary environments associated with a drainage network that has tapped the Rakefet magmatic bodies. Note that this drainage network is a tributary to the Kishon River where diamonds have been recovered during the early stages of Shefa Yamin’s exploration campaign.

Field confirmation of the target areas was undertaken and five mega-pits have been sited. The first bulk sample (c. 100 tons) within the Rakefet alluvial fan was successfully excavated and prepared for processing, whilst preparatory planning for the next sample is underway. Shefa Yamim recently took delivery of a backhoe loader that will be used in the bulk sampling programme.
