In northern Israel, Shefa Yamim continues its geological exploration campaign in the Kishon drainage basin and surrounding areas, including Mount Carmel, in its quest for precious stones, semi-precious stones and heavy minerals that are referred to as the “Diamond-Moissanite-Corundum” (DMC) suite.
Drawing on the extensive results from its earlier sampling and drilling programmes, Shefa Yamim has recently updated its practical source-to-sink geological model to guide its DMC exploration campaign in the future.
Using this updated geological model as a framework for its dynamic exploration campaign, Shefa Yamim has recently identified two high-interest alluvial placer targets (secondary deposits) for immediate follow up, as well as highlighting additional primary sources for the relevant DMC minerals in certain volcanic units exposed in the Kishon catchment.
The revised and updated geological model presented at the Israeli Geological Society’s annual meeting held this year in Ein Bokek, (25 February 2014).
