Shefa Yamim has discovered both gold and silver, in a few samples taken from the exploration area. However, these findings were only made as the result of mineralogical studies under binoculars.

Gold was found in Sample 195, from alluvial sediments. It was a soft, small nugget (0.4 x 0.5 mm), with a bright yellow color, containing 2.84% Ag.

Silver was found in Sample SY-VI, deposited within the Pleistocene (most recent glacial) sediments. Found near the surface of Borehole VI, the deposit is coarse, with a predominantly red color, represented by clay, silt, calcareous sandstone (known also by the local name “kurkar”) and occasionally gravel. Distributed along the river and tributary channels, silty sand and gravel contain minor amounts of angular, dark basalt rocks.

Additional silver was also found: five small nuggets of various sizes (0.5 to 1.5 mm). This silver is white with a yellowish hue, opaque, with a metallic luster. It contained Cu-6.1%; Zn-3.2% and Cd-9.6%. After applying mineralogical studies under binoculars and electron probe tests, Shefa Yamim concluded that this mineral is similar to argentite.
